Food Glorious Food!

Hellooo! I hope everyone is well.  I have sooooo many food pics to post so I'll just get crack-a-lackin. Also, I turned 30 a couple of weeks ago....AAARRRGGGHHH!!

For my birthday lunch I went to Zizzi in Meadowhall with my mum, dad and Andy.  It was also our first wedding anniversary.  I had vegan pizza followed by vegan nectarinni.  Both delicious.

  Also had this amazing cocktail (got to have treats on your birthday right?!)  It was strawberry puree, mint, rosemary, lemon, lime, amaretto, vodka and soda water.  Deee-lish!

I went to Harrogate for work and got to stay in a beautiful hotel. I also got some really nice food there; a superfood salad and sweet potato fries.  They were really accommodating and also had some unsweetened soy milk for me at breakfast time.

They also had Lotus Biscoff as part of the tea and coffee making facilities - yeah boi!

I also went to Bath for work again, below is my lovely lunch from Cafe Rouge which is opposite our shop.  It had a Bistro salad with smoked beetroot dressing and Frites.  Tres bien. It also had little roquito chilli's which I've never had before, they were really sweet and had a chutney sort of taste to them.  Will try and find them to have again.  I also put a picture of the view from seat in there, a really pretty stained glass window.

I had scrambled tofu with onions, cajun spice and black olives on toast for breakfast one morning.  I made a batch of chilli using veggie mince from Tesco and bits and pieces from my cupboard.

I had loads of leftover chilli so I had it for lunch another day and then mixed with some macaroni for a quick dinner too.  I also tried the new Nakd bar carrot cake flavour; it is nice but not as carrot cakey as I had hoped.  I was really excited to try this one too!  Took me a while to find it, I've only seen them in multipacks in Tesco so far.

Below we have movie snacks; sweet popcorn and skittles!  I also found vegan salad cream at Tesco (hallelujah!)  It's perfect.  I have salad cream and ketchup with most food.....I just try to take a pic before it gets slathered.

Two standard dinners with Poppy never too far.  Linda McCartney sausages with butternut squash, cabbage and gravy.  More LMC sausages to the right with a jacket potato, salad and hummus.

I've made banana bread three times in the last couple weeks!  Love it!  So good for using up those over-ripe banana's.  I don't use any refined sugar, just sultana's to give it some sweetness.  It's very dense so I put vitalite on it like malt loaf.  I also signed up for a Riverford Organics box!  For £13.95 I get a box of Organic UK veg delivered on my doorstep every Friday now.  

With my first box today I have made beetroot and carrot soup, so impressed with myself haha!  I've been very domestic today.

And of course I made more banana bread!

Eat All The Food

Hello blog people!

How's it going?  I've been eating all the vegan food and loved it.  Found some really good items that weren't available to me a couple of years ago. So here it is, pretty much all the food!

On the left a Redwoods vegan pizza with added red pepper, onion and sweetcorn.  I buy the peppers and onion precut and frozen so I heat them a little before adding to the pizza to cook in the oven - it takes too long to cook otherwise and the base gets too crispy.  On the right is a red onion and chive New York bagel (these are my fave bagels and actually made about 10 mins round the corner from where I live).  It's got scrambled tofu with cajun spices and sunflower seeds on it, next to it is a salad of tomatoes, avocado, black olives, basil and olive oil.  Frickin' yum.


Here we have a lunch whilst working in Bath on the left - it's Cauldron Tofu pieces with a fruity Morrocan side of rice from Waitrose.  Very tasty.  On the right is a dinner I have whilst working in Bath (not my plates!).  Two Quorn vegan spicy chicken style burgers, mixed veg and jacket potato. Pretty basic but just what I needed.

Below is a picture of Bath I took on my way back to the accommodation.  I'd been meaning to pull over for ages and take one of this spot, it's beautiful.  A shame the sun wasn't out at this particular time!

Snackages below!  Tesco have started making a Free From white chocolate bar - about time!  VERY nice, white chocolate is my fave and this is not a bad approximation.  On the right is a peanut butter Clif bar - WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN INTRODUCED TO THESE BEFORE?!  They are so yum! Just essentially a peanut butter flapjack, mmmmmmm.  They're a bit expensive though, I got some from Holland & Barrett and they were £1.70 each!

Below is my lunch from today - left over veggies made Bubble & Squeak style with tofu and cajun spices.  Served with hummus, pitta and a load of ketchup.  A few chilli and lime crisps too.  Photo's aren't that great, could do with a new camera phone!

Strawberries with chocolate Alpro pudding for breakfast one morning, plus another dinner of Quorn Vegan chilli burgers with sweet potato wedges and corn on the cob.

One of my favourite new discoveries - Almond Dream Salted Caramel Ice Cream!  It tastes amazing - I found it at Asda (through an online shop).  Has a slight maple syrup taste, so, so good.  Poppy wanted to try some too but she wasn't so lucky.

Last but not least - another bagel! This time with avocado, Marmite and sunflower seeds.  I always use Vitalite spread instead of butter too.

2 Year Hiatus

Hello! It's almost two years to the day that I last posted - wow! I thought about deleting the blog a few times but I'm so glad I didn't. I've just recently had the little switch in head that tells me to be vegan come on again. It's really strange. It just flicked on and I couldn't eat meat or dairy any more. I don't know what does it. Anyway - I was trying to think about what I used to eat and the foods I enjoyed when I remembered the blog and came back to it. Very handy! 

I want to start blogging again and checking out all my old favourite blogs too. I'm really excited about it. I am wondering if I am having a midlife crisis, totally possible as I'm 30 in a few weeks *vomits uncontrollably*.  

Anyway I will have a go at the blog and try and make it a bit more interesting and get it updated, there's a quick life update below. I hope you are well and happy, I'm so looking forward to getting back into blogdom! (I might change the blog name and other bits so bear with me)

Quick Update:

Ran away to Gretna Green last July (on my birthday) and got married. First wedding anniversary coming up!  We didn't tell anyone and went on our own

We got another Westie that needed a good home, we called her Poppy and this is her with Milo trying to crush Andy to death

I started a new job which I love, I'm driving to and from Bath at the moment (a 4 hour journey!) but it means I get a company car again - woo hoo! - and I do enjoy it despite being permanently tired.

Hey, Remember Me??

Well hello, it's been a wee while since I last wrote.  A lot has changed, here's a quick run down:
  • I've moved to Sheffield
  • Started a new job
  • Started & completed my first module of a Politics, Philosophy & Economics degree with the OU
  • Started Level 2 of AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians)
  • Started my own business (more to come another time)
  • Got engaged!!
  • Got a Westie called Milo
I think that about covers it so far......oh yes, I haven't been vegan since I moved to Sheffield.  This is something that keeps playing on my mind, and my stomach.  I think I found it so hard in Norfolk, lots of things had to give and this was one of them.  I'm not sure if I can get back to that 'label' any more.  I've read so much about nutrition and health recently.  My mind is a mess when it comes to these things, some books say eat high protein, low carb, some say high carb, low fat others say high fat and moderate protein.  They all contradict each other and all have scientific evidence to back them up.
I guess you can find 'science' to back up anything you say, if you word it well enough.

Any way, what do you eat?  I have decided I need to sort myself out food wise, the rest of my life seems to be falling into place (although 'falling' seems inappropriate when you consider the amount of hard work that has gone into it all!).  I do believe there is not a one size fits all answer in this respect, everyone is bio-individual and what works for one person may not work for another.

Anyway, I've just been checking out my favourite vegan blogs and came back to mine, here's to health whatever your label and I hope to start posting more regularly soon :)

Long Time No Blog

Hi guys,

Sorry it's been a while since my last post and I haven't been commenting much either.  I'm hoping to remedy this soon.  I've decided realised I don't like living in Norfolk and so I'm currently trying to move to Sheffield as that's where I want to be.  It's stressful but I'm looking forward to making the change and will hopefully be ready to tell you what I've been eating again soon :)

I hope everyone is well and eating lots of lovely food!

Sunny Hunny & Wolferton

Hi guys, I hope you're all well.  My mum came down for the weekend so we all took the Friday off to make it an extra long one :)  We were so lucky with the weather, just take a look at these pictures I took in Hunstanton (I'm so lucky we only live 25 minutes from this place!):

We've booked a hotel there for my birthday in July which I'm very excited about :)  It's not far from where we are but it means we can spend the whole day and evening there, have a few drinks and not worry about having to drive home.  The hotel is right by the beach too :D

The next day we decided to go to Wolferton which is a beautiful little village about 15 mins away.  It has a wonderful old train station that was used by the Royal Family when they were visiting Sandringham (one of the Queen's residences).  The weather was a little cooler and a little greyer, we hedged our bets and took an umbrella but we were lucky again. We also got to speak to the lovely man that looks after the station, I wish I'd taken a picture of him to put on here.  He was really chatty and told us loads about the station and village :)


We had such a lovely weekend and I wish we could have had longer!  I do find it hard living away from my mum.  When I woke up Sunday morning I had a really sore shoulder and arm, I think as I'd been sleeping on the floor but I'm not certain.  It's Wednesday now and it's only just starting to get better.  I had to take time off work as I couldn't drive with it, it was so painful.  Painkillers weren't touching it at all and I couldn't get any relief.  I went to the doctors and he prescribed me Naproxen which took a whole day before it kicked in!!  I've been since 3pm without pills now so fingers crossed!! It has put me off my stride exercise-wise but I'm hoping if all is well tomorrow I can get a run or DVD in.

Also!  I've been reading Vegan Crunk's latest posts about the Real Food Cleanse which is essentially a 3 day vegan cleanse that involves eating only fruit and veggies, some beans and seeds.  It looks really do-able and I'm so up for it after my weekend of chips, Chinese food and vodka!  I will give that a go soon.  I also got the China Study Cookbook this weekend courtesy of my dear old mum!  So looking forward to making stuff from that :)  Plenty of food pics to come!
